Why to build immunity??

Immunity

The immune system of ourbody is a kind of defense mechanism to fight against pathogenic microbes. It has cells that are specialized to kill infecting microbes and keep our bodyhealthy. It produces antibodies to kill the harmful pathogen known as the antigen.

what to consume to increase immunity?

1. Citrus fruits
2. Red bell peppers
3. Broccoli
4. Garlic
5.Ginger
6.Yogurt
How this helps in increasing immunity??

1.Citrus fruit:
Research shows vitamin C is essential for the growth and repair of tissue all over the body. Vitamin C helps heal wounds and repair and maintain healthy bones, teeth, skin and cartilage — a type of firm tissue that covers the bones. As an antioxidant, vitamin C fights free radicals in the body which may help prevent or delay certain cancers and heart disease, and promote healthy aging. Vitamin C from foods also seems to reduce the risk of cartilage loss in those with osteoarthritis. Though it may not keep you from catching a cold, there is some evidence that high doses of vitamin C may decrease the length of cold symptoms by as much as one to one-and-a-half days for some people. However, other studies did not result in the same findings, and the risk of side effects is greater with high doses of vitamin C supplements, so check with your doctor or dietitian before taking.
2. Red bell peppers:

Red Peppers to Pump Up Skin and Immunity
One medium-sized red bell peppercontains 152 milligrams of vitamin C, or enough to fulfill your RDA. Peppersare also a great source of beta carotene, a precursor of vitamin A (retinol). Vitamin A is important for healthy skin, your mucous membranes and your immune system.
3) Broccoli:

Broccoli has an impressive nutritional profile. It is "high in fiber, very high in vitamin C and has potassium, B6 and vitamin A," raved Victoria Jarzabkowski, a nutritionist with the Fitness Institute of Texas at the University of Texas at Austin. "For a nonstarchy vegetable, it has a good amount of protein."
4) Garlic:

Garlic Can Boost Immune Function
Garlic contains compounds that help the immune system fight germs ( 5 , 6 ). Whole garlic contains a compound called alliin. When garlic is crushed or chewed, this compound turns into allicin (with a c), the main active ingredient in garlic ( 7 )

Raw Garlic
"To maximize garlic's immune-boosting effects, aim to eat one clove two to three times per day. Crushing the garlic and allowing it to stand for 10 minutes prior to cooking can also help increase its effects," says Blake.

5) Ginger:

Ginger, a tropical plant related to turmeric and cardamom, produces a pungent, sweet-tasting root. Herbal tea aficionados steep freshly grated ginger in hot water to make tea, and various cuisines incorporate fresh or dried ginger into both sweet and savory recipes. Herbalists recommend ginger root as a natural treatment for a wide range of health conditions. Consult your doctor before using ginger to treat a medical condition.

6) Yoghurt:

People who regularly eat yogurt help their body to produce vitamin B in the bowels. ... The lactic acid bacteria in yogurt have important effects in preventing cancer, infections, gastrointestinal diseases and asthma. Regular consumption of daily and fresh yogurt increases the positive affects ofyogurt.
Yogurt can help overcome this. Among those four, it turns out that the best option to consume yogurt is during breakfast or on an empty stomach. This is because goodbacteria or probiotics in yogurt must arrive at the large intestine in a live condition to effectively maintain digestion and health.
